So yesterday I did the Ride for Heart and this is yesterday’s photo. I’m sorry it’s late. I woke up at 4AM to ride at 6AM for 75kms. When I got home I took a nap, woke up, ate dinner, then went to sleep.

Anyways fun thing I brought a Yashica 35mm film rangefinder and a Nex3 but the Nex had become a dickhead and decided my SD card that was previously in my M8 was too decadent for it and it refused to take an image with that card. I didn’t want to format all my photos away so I only had the Yashica to use and a Sony Dead Weight to carry.

So I was out in Toronto today with my brother Anthony and my friend Tyler. We were out for a shoot around the area. Everyone else though seemed very un-pleased to be out at all. Everyone pretty well wore this face. I’m calling it Rain face. It’s the face you make when you think the weather is out to get YOU personally. Everyone was pretty moany and complainy today and this was their face. It was like if Hitler had just kicked his dog and slashed his tires and he’s just thinking “Why?!”.

I like this face. I think we were probably the only people out without this face on but it makes for good photos.

I’m finished the body work on my car! OK it doesn’t look FANTASTIC but it’s serviceable. I’ve painted it and put on a clear coat on top and a rubberised coating on the underside to re-enforce it.

Yesterday you saw my Century Graphic, today you see it in action. I think honestly this will be one of my favourite cameras of all time. The thing is so ridiculously light, lighter than my brothers Fuji Gw690. Although it’s light and tiny it’s a full fledged 6x9 camera with limited tilting and shifting motions. It’s by no means like a view camera (it’s movement is restricted) but for it’s size it’s a hell of a lot of fun.

Oh and let’s talk lens. The Ektar is FANNNTASSSTTTICCCCC. It’s sharp as hell and small so it fits in the camera.

Anyway I just wanted to say I enjoyed shooting this today. I only had 8 shots but it was the most fun 8 shots in a long time.

Camera: Century Graphic with a Kodak (Ektar 101mm F4.5 (@F8)), this is the 6x9 medium format one not a large format.

Film: Ilford HP5 ISO 400

This is a 1950’s Century Graphic 6x9 camera. It’s my second press camera the first one from Graphic would be the full sized Speed Graphic seen in BOoOOOKKkkkkEEEHhhhhh to the right of the photo. This particular one uses the 101mm F4.5 Ektar lens, similar to my 4x5 (uses a 127mm).

This was bought today at a camera show, I was originally looking for a “23” Graphic back to use it on my Mamiya press Universal and there were many dealers who were selling that but they were all asking like 80-120 dollars depending on condition! This came with one of those AND a ground glass and the camera for 175. So what I’m saying is that for about 55 more dollars I have a very nice cap for my “23” Graphic back.

These are AMAZING camera’s by the way, if you ever have the chance to own one of these DO IT. They are the most fantastic value for money, there is no other 6x9 camera that will be as fun to use, and have as much freedom or as much modularity for so little money. The thing is also TINY to boot, it’s smaller than the Fuji GW690 and lighter as well and it folds up into a tiny tiny box.

Anime North was kicked off today. One of my friends recently got me a ticket so I decided to have a bike ride to take a look. Funny though before I took off I was distracted by a very very bright red bug on the garden and I spent 10 minutes trying to photo the thing.

So I took a brake from fixing up my ancient Civic for a bike ride. The clouds were fantastic out! Really crazy! Rolling clouds to the right, streaking clouds on the left, but right down the middle you had these really ominous clouds like someone dimpled the skies. It was right over top of this abandoned barn. It reminded me of old horror films were people would take shelter in some random place despite all the signs that there was brutal murder a foot.
