The back yard of the family home doesn’t actually have a lot of space but it’s pretty well full utilized. We’re growing things from lettuce to grapes. Today the grapes were just at the stage where they’re almost ready to eat but not exactly. The transition. They were all going purple but the green was still there and I thought it looks really nice. It was also just a nice way to test out the bokeh of my 50mm F1.8 OSS for the Nex camera system.

Ok so I’m getting back into this nice photos thing.
Today was a fun day out with Kat. Picked her up from the airport then onward to her home in Kitchener. Anywho so in Kitchener we were on the way to a park for a swim when the tree came up and I pulled of my civic for a small intermission. We didn’t actually end up having a dip in the water, turns out parks expect money for entry! On the plus side I forgot that landscapes and nature are pretty especially if it’s highly organized human managed nature. Farms if you will.

So again I’m using my Nex7 which is turning out to be a fantastic damn camera. My new favourite camera of all time ever.

So if you don’t know pride day is coming up. I wanted to do a photo for it but I was also really peckish and I wanted sweats so I came up with this tasty dish. I went to bulk barn and busted out my phone to check the pride flag colors and a couple bucks in gourmet beans later BAM.

You’ll notice the base of the treats is not jelly beans it’s trail mix. The dish itself has also been raised by about 1 inch to provide a bit of seperation between the plate and the table. You’ll also notice I’ve been using this table a lot and that’s because I like the wood effect.

Leaf (179/365)

So a little while ago (a month?) I kind of went adventuring new by my neighbourhood. I had plucked out some water borne plants and put em in a jar to see how it’d grow. It turns out I kind of just plucked out an entire ecosystem. Along with the plant were water bugs, many snails, some worms and dirt.

So as time passed the life grew (pretty well without predators) the population of water bugs and snails have ballooned and it’s just about reached a critical mass it seems. The plant had spread and created 4 other plants, 2 of which took root at the bottom of the jar and 2 which were floating on top. The main one (seen here) grew so large it has cropped out the jar.

So I had this camera given to me by Ricardo of Henry’s Mississauga a little while ago and I had originally intended to convert it to shoot 120 film or instant peel away film but there has been an issue. The metal used in it’s frame is damn thick and today I found out just how thick. I tried to operate on it and you can see in the centre of the camera there’s a hole, that’s because I had to break a part off today now with a Dremel tool it took me 15 minutes to cut away cleanly (key word cleanly) a 1cm piece of metal.

Anyways the cameras in the photo are a

Polaroid Electric Eye (the main piece)
Polaroid Land 180
Polaroid Color Pack II
Canon AV-1
Voightlander Bessa R4a
Yashica Electro 35
Canon F1
Ricoh XR-20

Camera: Canon 5D mark II With 50mm F1.2L

Strobist info: To the left of the frame behind the Polaroid bouncing off the wall behind the cameras is a 430EX (@1/16 power). To the right and in front of the Polaroid is a large softbox with a 580EX (@1/32) and there is 1 more 430EX underneath the cameras to kind of hide the fact that the white board the stuff is sitting on is too small for the photo (@1/32 power)

Back to the picnic. We spotted some minnows while my father was fishing and I was wondering if it was possible for me to scoop them up WITH MY HANDS. So I stabbed the water with my fist and out came 2 little fishes in my palm. So I decided to keep em and aquarium them. But here’s the thing they’re in a decently big space but they’re incredibly tiny. For now they’re in a makeshift tank because if they were to go into my regular tank the other fish would see it and EAT THEM.

To give you an idea how small it is it’s about 6mm long.

Out in Toronto today and did some street shooting. I’m definitely slowing down in the streets. I didn’t go nuts and shoot a billion photos. It was good.

Also It’s been a really long time since I took my 5D II out for some street shooting I think. Anyway the point is I forgot that it’s a good camera :)

This not early bird gets the late worm (137/365)

Ok so I’ve always wanted to get a photo of a bird with actual worms in its mouth. In previous attempts to do this photo I’m usually to slow on the go or the birds have not shown up. Today though was not one of those days. It in the evening at about dinner when I noticed birds around the yard so I grabbed my 5D 2 and sat outside for about 15 minutes before a bird came down with it’s meal in beak.

On a side note I may have creep’d out the the neighbours. Standing in the backyard with what appears to be a lens that can see craters on the moon shooting.

Also I’m pretty sure the bird is a Robin, but correct me if I’m wrong.
