Remember that Yashica from 2 days ago? To repair that the camera you see here was sacrificed. It had a wonderfully clear finder unfortunately all the electrics had failed. So I had pulled it’s finder out. The process would be a difficult one. The film advance leaver was jammed onto the camera and I needed pliers to yank it off. The metal top plate was also stuck to the body so it also suffered massive damage.
On the plus side I did yank the lamps off it and put power through. They still work! Not that that’s surprising but still.
Camera: Canon 5D mark II With Canon 100mm macro (@F2.8)

Strobist info: Canon 580EX with the foldable softbox the lumiquest LTP to the left of the frame and slightly behind and a Canon 550EX fired bare a few times in for the photo composite to enhance the lens in the photo.

So I popped in a new pack of polaroids into my 4x5 speed graphic today and went on a bike ride with my brother. It was getting fairly dark and it was not looking good for ISO 100 film but we made it work. This was just off a path we normally bike around the lot was previously abandoned but it looks like there are new tenants doing some farming and all. The shot itself was done on my home made polaroid back. It’s pretty lefty and works like a normal one with some clunkiness that come from DIY things. Anyways the other thing I did was tilt it to seperate the image into 2 parts, bokeh and sharpness. Guess which is which.
Camera: Speed graphic with 127mm f4.5 Ektar. Film FP-100C Fujifilm peel apart film.
Scanned on an epson V700

Bike riding is pretty fun. But you know what can make it less fun? Carrying a heavy ass camera and a heavy ass tripod. Today I returned to a fun spot where I use to fish for photos (remember the barn? Yeah that place). I was having a tough time with all the clouds looking pretty mehh and the location in general just not cooperating anymore. But as luck would have it I spotted this right on my way out to find something else to shoot.
Camera: Mamiya Press super 23 with 6x7 back using Tmax 400 scanned with an Epson V700

So I started to shoot more film again! Specifically medium format film because it’s so juicy and wonderful. So my brother and I went out for a day of shooting on our bikes and took many shots. There was however 1 issue on my part. I had forgotten what film was loaded into what back. I had Portra 120 400NC loaded up in one and Illford Delta 400 in another so I did the only logical thing. Picked one at random then took it to chance. Everything was perfect uptil the part where I realized this is medium format and I did have windows in the back of my camera to tell me where I was in the roll but also what damn film I was using. Turns out I picked the 400 Portra meaning I couldn’t develope it. OR could I? Hell yes I could. I did the C-41 in B/W process and this turned to be a TERRIBLE idea. Mostly ruined my film. But I got 1 semi-workable shot. This is it.

Scanner: Epson V700
Strobist info: To the left of the frame behind the Polaroid bouncing off the wall behind the cameras is a 430EX (@1/16 power). To the right and in front of the Polaroid is a large softbox with a 580EX (@1/32) and there is 1 more 430EX underneath the cameras to kind of hide the fact that the white board the stuff is sitting on is too small for the photo (@1/32 power)

So yesterday I did the Ride for Heart and this is yesterday’s photo. I’m sorry it’s late. I woke up at 4AM to ride at 6AM for 75kms. When I got home I took a nap, woke up, ate dinner, then went to sleep.
Anyways fun thing I brought a Yashica 35mm film rangefinder and a Nex3 but the Nex had become a dickhead and decided my SD card that was previously in my M8 was too decadent for it and it refused to take an image with that card. I didn’t want to format all my photos away so I only had the Yashica to use and a Sony Dead Weight to carry.

Yesterday you saw my Century Graphic, today you see it in action. I think honestly this will be one of my favourite cameras of all time. The thing is so ridiculously light, lighter than my brothers Fuji Gw690. Although it’s light and tiny it’s a full fledged 6x9 camera with limited tilting and shifting motions. It’s by no means like a view camera (it’s movement is restricted) but for it’s size it’s a hell of a lot of fun.
Oh and let’s talk lens. The Ektar is FANNNTASSSTTTICCCCC. It’s sharp as hell and small so it fits in the camera.
Anyway I just wanted to say I enjoyed shooting this today. I only had 8 shots but it was the most fun 8 shots in a long time.
Camera: Century Graphic with a Kodak (Ektar 101mm F4.5 (@F8)), this is the 6x9 medium format one not a large format.
Film: Ilford HP5 ISO 400
