Perfected the light seals on the newest holga polaroid for sale. The solution was not pretty a lot of vinyl on the inside of the camera holding the light back. Anyways this was the second shot taken outside just to make sure it was ok.

So I have some pretty good news. I’ve redone the inside of the SI-Holga. There is a fresh pack of color 100 ISO film in there. I exposed it to 2 days worth of sunlight and multiple camera flashes and after that I took a photo. There is no significant light leakage from the camera that I can see. It’s pretty well ready to sell. I’ll be posting it on Etsy in a little bit.
Todays photo is a photo of my shadow and it shows no leaks!

I’m sitting at home Tearing up old/broken polaroids to make new backs for producing more Si-Holgas while watching Top Gear. I’ve done one today it took an hour, I’m starting a second one now. Say goodbye to my broken Land 360 everyone!
So what is everyone else doing?
Also I hope everyone’s Christmas eve is as fun as mine (seriously it’s super fun to make these).
So, since the beginning of this en devour to the world of instant photography I’ve noticed that this is pricey and addictive. A lot like smoking.
Every week I use a pack and that rate is slowly but surely climbing. Soon it’ll be 2 packs a week and if I don’t I’ll get the shakes.
My point is, I have 11 packs left. I feel like I’m going to run out. Then what? I don’t know! But I sure as hell ain’t sticking around for that. So is it wrong that I’m contemplating buying 9 more packs of Fuji-3000FP B/W polaroid film?
Ok.
So I noticed the TLR holga has colored gel filters. Now I know what everyone is thinking “OMG COLORED GELS, that’s like adding a splash of color to your photos! AWESOME, or is it like splashing vomit? I don’t know?”
I was wondering would it not be better to have ND filter’d gels instead to give you variable flash power? If anyone thinks that’s a good idea let me know and I might consider making a SI-Holga with the ND gels instead of the colored kind.
I’ve decided to have a second go at making a better Si-Holga.
And by better I mean that in the sense it’s getting more stuff. The new one will be based off of the TLR Holga. So it will have a mirror based TLR style viewfinder to look through and guestimate framing. It also features a flash with a gel scroller! And my favorite feature is that it has a tripod shoe and a bulb mode shutter.
This all however comes at a price. It’s more complicated a camera so I can’t just CHOP it all up. I have to actually watch where I cut and how I re-organize parts. So inherently this will be more than a 2 day build. Especially if I want to make it look better than the Mark I. It’s not going to be like looking at an SLR or anything but it won’t be as ugly as a big duct tapped mess. Future iterations will improve the look and I’m currently exploring the option of having a proper wired trigger replaced the shutter release on the holga. That should make the bulb more less useless. I will also look into actually integrating in a hotshoe somewhere on the polaroid back.
Anyways at the moment I’ve reorganized parts and re-spaced the TLR holga to take a polaroid back. Tomorrow night I hope to be attaching the back and giving the camera a whirl.

So today I bit the bullet. I only had 2 packs of Polaroids left. So I went to B&H and decided to buy a pack. Or to be more precise, 9 packs. 5 Black and white FP-3000, and 4 FP-100C. I’m just trying to prepare for the arrival of my Mamiya universal’s polariod back. Plus the creation of the SI-Holga mark II (That can be read about here http://greedphotography.tumblr.com/post/12914539166/presenting-my-first-attempt-at-a-polaroid-holga).
Anyways I’m excited for more polaroids to come.
