A lot of people baby their cameras. Usually I’m one of those people. Today I decided to drown my camera for the sake of this photo. So I let it sit in the rain while some lights were set up and we took photos! Anyways needless to say the 5D was fine.

Camera: Sony Nex-7 with 50mm F1.8 OSS

Strobist Info: A 430EX (@1/2) power with a 36” umbrella behind me, and my brother with a 550EX (@1/32th) power behind the camera to the right of the frame.

Remember that Yashica from 2 days ago? To repair that the camera you see here was sacrificed. It had a wonderfully clear finder unfortunately all the electrics had failed. So I had pulled it’s finder out. The process would be a difficult one. The film advance leaver was jammed onto the camera and I needed pliers to yank it off. The metal top plate was also stuck to the body so it also suffered massive damage.

On the plus side I did yank the lamps off it and put power through. They still work! Not that that’s surprising but still.

Strobist info: Canon 580EX with the foldable softbox the lumiquest LTP to the left of the frame and slightly behind and a Canon 550EX fired bare a few times in for the photo composite to enhance the lens in the photo.

Ok so this photo is inspired by a facebook post (Thank Jeff). Jeff recently reminded me that I own one of these lenses and an M8 and that I realized I have not taken that camera out in AGES so for today’s photo I decided to give it the old college try and bam photo with some swirly bokeh.

So I haven’t done many photos featuring my M8. Sooo here’s one. I did this in the evening so when the sun was going down. Then I put a 580EX (on ETTL) behind me.

Anyways I tried this who looking with both eyes open thing. I don’t think it’s required for Rangefinders. It’s more a DSLR trick but it’s soo awkward in all situations! I hate doing this.

Ok so I must admit. Of all the camera brands out there. I’ve owned most of them. Uptil now I have not owned an olympus SLR (I’ve had a EP-1 very briefly but that was it, also it’s not an SLR). So this is baby’s first Olympus SLR. Came with batteries that worked (although 1/2 exploded), a 50mm F1.8. And the manual override mode knob thing. I just got it in a thrift shop, it was sitting there! For 10 bucks! Today was a good day.

Anyway I did end up cleaning it up to remove the grime and it looks nicer now, I just wanted to get a pre-clean photo.

So this is it the 100th photo. I decided to make it a Mamiya 100. A press 100. It was done clearly with multiple exposures and then a lot of stitching. But the result it clear 100.

Ok so today I just wanted to play with light a bit. I haven’t done a well thought out strobist photo in a while with more than 2 lights. So today I used 3. I kind og imagined that this is the kind of photo samsung would use to advertise their cameras. I then realized I was thinking of sony, but then I realized that when I tried to look up the ad that I was thinking of similar to this it wasn’t even a camera ad. It was a laptop ad.

Strobist info: Canon 550ex (@1/32 direct at EX1), 1 Canon 430EX (@1/16) to the right of the frame with snoot directly at the side of the camera, 1 580EX (@1/16) with snoot directly at 5D mark II lens to reduce contrast and flare.

So I was trying to find a photo and to do. I’m away from my camera kit and light stands so I only have 1 flash with me and a commander. So I was literally pointing the flash at things and just playing around. Then I pointed at ME! And viola!
